“What’s your strategy for getting your next 50 customers signed up?”
Carolyn provides research, marketing and project management services for Modern Media clients and projects.
Before joining Modern Media, she worked with Lavenas & Carson, providing editorial, production and special project management services to clients including Meetings and Conventions Magazine, Travel Weekly, the United States Tour Operator Association, Shuttle Sheet (Pace Communications), the Maryland Office of Tourism and Development and Paperloop/RISI.
Prior to that, Carolyn executed urban design and architectural projects as a principal in Strickland and Carson Associates. Notable projects include the first renewal project for Bryant Park in NYC, executed in the early 1980s for The Parks Council; the first renewal and reuse proposal for Ellis Island; Union Square enhancements for the 14th Street-Union Square BID; and a major plan for the Harlem Urban Redevelopment Corporation. In 1981, as Sanders & Strickland, the firm placed 7th in the national design competition for the redesign of Copley Square, Boston. It later won acclaim for its submission to the Architectural League of New York’s small schools design competition. Private clients included developers in New Jersey and New York, and built residential projects include renovations in Brooklyn Heights and Pound Ridge, NY.
Carolyn also owned and managed restaurants, including One Hudson Cafe in TriBeCa, in the years before “artisanal execution” replaced “cooking” in that neighborhood.
Carolyn holds a BA in economics from Barnard College in Columbia University. She studied finance and economics at Columbia Business School, which she fled before completing her MBA.
