John oversees editorial research and content development for Modern Media clients, including events programming and digital media content strategies.
Prior to joining Modern Media, John was editorial director of events at The Industry Standard and managing editor of research and events at InformationWeek. John has programmed, hosted and moderated events ranging in scale from intimate roundtables to 1,600-person executive conferences. He has managed B2B and B2C phone, email and Web research and event experience surveys with up to 20,000 respondents per survey.
John’s career as a technology and business journalist spans more than 20 years at publications including BusinessWeek, the San Francisco Examiner, the San Francisco Chronicle and HomePC. He is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Journalism, University of California at Berkeley, where he also serves on the alumni board.
